On May 11th, 1950, approximately 9 miles southwest of McMinnville, Oregon, Evelyn and Paul Trent observed a metallic disc hovering over their farm. Paul Trent ran to get a camera and when he returned, he took two photographs of the object. They watched the object hover, then speed away.
The Trent family never made any efforts to gain notoriety from the experience and photos. They never made any efforts to receive money from the experience. Although The Condon Commitee Report is generally understood to have been an effort to dismiss or disprove UFO sightings, the report stated:

"This is one of the few UFO reports in which all factors investigated, geometric, psychological, and physical, appear to be consistent with the assertion that an extraordinary flying object, silvery, metallic, disc-shaped, tens of meters in diameter, and evidently artificial, flew within sight of two witnesses."
